Bellewstown Races Ladies Day 2009 truly lived up to its name. The fabulous €5,000 prize package was sponsored by CityNorth Hotel, GOSH Cosmetics and Waxell and this years judge was international supermodel Caprice. The ladies came in droves and the style was stunning.
Fresh from an interview with TV3's Xpose, Caprice spent an hour touring the enclosure and talking to Ladies about their outfits. She also met lots of children who had dressed up specially for the occasion and were delighted to have their photo taken with the beautiful model and businesswoman.
Gavin Duffy, of Bellewstown Race Committee, and more recently RTE's Dragons Den, played host to the evening and welcomed the 16 finalists to the stage to be photographed with Caprice. Jacob's Creek Sparkling Rosé kindly sponsored a drinks reception for all the ladies which added to the party atmosphere. After more deliberations Caprice shortlisted the 16 finalists down to 3 shortlisted ladies: Faith Amond, Caoilinn Taylor and Aine Purcell.
Proceedings moved to the parade ring where Colm Murray of RTE Sport announced the ladies, Caprice and the sponsors. He interviewed Ladonna Tallon of CityNorth Hotel who are main sponsors of Ladies Day at Bellewstown Races for the 3rd year running.
Would the winner be Faith, who wore the Hoss dress with a wonderful hat that she made herself? Or would it be Caoilinn in a purple Zara dress with a navy chiffon wrap pinned with a vintage broach and an Alexander McQueen navy clutch? Or would it be the lovely Aine Purcell wearing an ivory mini dress with a black trim, a stylish headpiece and black handbag? The competition was close and Aine took 3rd place, Faith took 2nd and Caoilinn took 1st place.
Declan Furlong and the team from Waxelle presented over €1200 in prize vouchers, GOSH Cosmetics presented gift baskets to die for and CityNorth Hotel presented 4 x five star luxury weekend breaks in Ireland coupled with €1000 spending money and Caoilinn also walked away with a specially designed Jacob's Creek headpiece created by Ronnie Ryan.. The winners were thrilled with their prizes and their newly acquired "Best Dressed Lady" titles.
Wrapping up the proceedings, GOSH Cosmetics sponsored the final race of the evening - an all female jockeys race. Before the race Caprice met with all the jockeys in the parade ring and was photographed with them in th evening sunshine. Caprice stayed in the parade ring with Kieran Flynn of GOSH Cosmetics to present the winner. It was the perfect ending to a great racing festival ... hard to believe that the five days of racing for 2009 have come to an end but the dates are in the diary for 2010 already and we look forward to seeing you back on the Hill!
